Professional cricketer Ellie is returning to the game after a nine-month injury. The stakes are high: she has only a few years of playing career left to regain her England place and fulfil the dream of playing a Test Match at Lord’s.
Ardent fan Adam, a painter and photographer, has stuck with Ellie through the highs and lows. He’s drawn to her talent, athleticism and public persona—but doesn’t harbour romantic intentions, because she’s a “star”, and past relationships have shown he doesn’t move in that world.
When events on and off the pitch throw Ellie and Adam into close proximity, a shared trauma emerges, followed quickly by an easy, open friendship.
Feeding off Adam’s support, and her attraction, Ellie’s cricketing form blossoms. Adam’s career also benefits from an upswing in fame, catalysed by his relationship with this superstar.
Yet their deepening feelings soon begin to sour things, affecting her focus and jeopardising her success.
Should they risk broken hearts to save her career?
